Ping Pong paddle packaging made with only cuts and folds.
Project 2: ID Ping Pong Paddle Packaging
E-Flute Cardboard
Design 166
Initial sketches for the first iteration of the packaging.
For the next iteration, I adjusted my model after critique for a more user intuitive opening of the box. This iteration now has the paddles sideways, keeping the handle at the top.
Based on multiple critiques, I opted to change the positioning of the paddles, because there was too much of weak points around where the handles and paddle stuck out from the box. I also went back to my original design so the packaging was more stable, but instead putting the closing mechanism on the sides instead of the top.
Initial half-scale model of packaging.
Final Design Sketches. Based on critique from Design 166, I added ping pong holders, as well as made the design more clean.

Reflection —
Despite the many challenges this project presented me with, through it I was able to produce something I was proud of, as well as learning new things, for example box making.
In the future I would like to do a lot more user testing with my box, to get more insight on how people interact with it and what I might want to add and improve.
